Feast day: March 26
St. Margaret Clitherow
A York butcher's wife and convert who hid priests in her home during the persecution; refusing to plead so as to spare her children a trial, she was crushed to death.
Called 'the Pearl of York,' she was pressed to death under a door piled with weights — refusing to plead guilty or not guilty to protect her family and friends.
