Feast day: April 3
St. Richard of Chichester
A poor scholar who rose to be bishop of Chichester, defended his diocese against royal seizure of its goods, and was loved for his simplicity and care for the needy.
His bedside prayer — to know Christ more clearly, love him more dearly, follow him more nearly — became one of the best-loved prayers in the English language.
“May I know you more clearly, love you more dearly, and follow you more nearly, day by day.”
— St. Richard of Chichester
