✦ Remembering Saints

Feast day: March 10

St. John Ogilvie

Priest, Martyr · 1579–1615

Patron of Scotland

A Scottish convert who became a Jesuit and slipped back into Calvinist Scotland in disguise to minister to hidden Catholics, until betrayal led to his hanging in Glasgow.

Tortured by being kept awake for over a week to make him name fellow Catholics, he refused — and is Scotland's only canonized martyr of the Reformation.
